Prediabetes was defined as having a fasting plasma glucose ≥5.6 mmol/L (100 mg/dL) but <7.0 mmol/L (126 mg/dL) or 2‐hour values in the oral glucose tolerance test of ≥7.8 (140 mg/dL) but <11.1 mmol/L (200 mg/dL).
