Table 2.

Hierarchical linear growth models for social connectedness, positive emotions and negative emotions over 9 weeks.

Predictors Social connectedness
Positive emotions
Negative emotions
B (SE) p B (SE) p B (SE) p
Time 0.01(.00) .00 0.00(.00) .00 −0.00(.00) .00
T1 vagal tone −4.40(3.28) .09 .13(2.8) .48 2.69(1.22) .01
T1 vagal tone×time 0.13(.04) .00 .05(.03) .03 0.00(.02) .47

Note: Results represent unstandardized coefficients. Models fitted using autoregressive: AR(1) error structure. All models controlled for gender and original study experimental condition; effects were nonsignificant, with the exception of a direct effect of gender on negative emotions. Women experienced significantly less negative emotion (b =−.21, p = .03). Reported tests are one-tailed.
