ATP efflux from S. mutans detected by relative luminescence. Planktonic cells were grown to mid-log phase and adjusted to ∼1 × 107 CFU/ml and treated with 6.25 μM of the peptides indicated. ATP leakage was detected by mixing the treated cells with a luciferase reagent and measuring photon output. Data presented represent an average of three separate reactions, with standard deviation.
