Salubrinal modulates VCP expression and controls CSE-induced ER stress. a The HEK-293 cells treated with DMSO (vehicle) or increasing doses of salubrinal show a dose dependent decrease in VCP expression. β-Actin was used as a loading control. The densitometric analysis is shown in the bottom panel. b Salubrinal (50 µM) restores CSE (200 µg/ml) induced decrease in secretory-ER stress reporter activity in HEK-293 cells (*p<0.05). The data suggest the potential efficacy of salubrinal in modulating VCP expression and proteostasis-imbalance in addition to inhibiting ER stress
