Table 1.

Given the same known TOA, each one of TMDX (relative to TOA) is independent of flow levels as long as TMDX < τ. The table columns list the simulated flow levels f in units of ml/100mg/min, mean transit time τ relative to TOA in units of sec, TMDX relative to TOA in units of sec, with X =2, 1.5, 1, 0.5. From the Table, we can see that TMD2 is equal to the same number of 2.1 sec for flow levels from f10 to f80. TMD1.5 is equal to 3.3 sec for flow levels from f10 to f70. In contrast, TMD1 is the same 4.8 sec only for flow levels f10 to f50. Beyond f50, TMD1 > τ. At f60, TMD1=4.5sec and τ=4sec. At f70, TMD1 is 4.2sec while τ is 3.4 sec. At f80, TMD1 is 3.9 sec while τ is 3sec. Beyond TMD1, TMD0.5 is equal to 7.2 sec for flow levels f10 to f30. Other examples for TMD0.5 include 5.1 sec at f70 and 4.8 sec at f80, all longer than τ of respective flow levels.
