Effect of NAD(P)H-quinone oxidoreductase (NQO1) overexpression on the PMET activity. Cells or freshly isolated islets were infected with type 5 adenoviruses expressing human NQO1 (Ad-NQO1) or control virus (Ad-control) at 5 × 105 plaque-forming units/ml. Following 48 h culture, PMET activity, determined as WST-1-formazan (A) or ferricyanide (B) formation, was measured as described in materials and methods.
