Outline of the procedure described above

  1. Plaque tissue homogenization. Plating non-treated controls on FAA plates, incubation.

  2. Treatment: 3-hour co-incubation with THP-1 monocytes. Centrifugation at 800 g for 7 min.

  3. Plating supernatant on FAA, incubation.

  4. Lysis of cell pellet with water, plating on FAA, incubation.
