The tomato plants were grown in nutrient solution that contained (+Fe) or omitted (−Fe) Fe-EDTA. For pharmacological treatment, 0.5 mM L-NAME was added to the –Fe solution, and either 0.1 μM NAA or 0.1 μM NAA with 0.5 mM L-NAMA were added to the +Fe solution. The NO levels and the lateral roots numbers were analysed on the 6th day of treatments. Data are means ±SD (n=8). Different letters indicate significant differences (P <0.05) between treatments.
