Best p values were selected from amongst all reports on each particular gene, regardless of the same or different SNP rs numbers. They are given only in terms of allelic count association (two-tailed, prior to correction for multiple testing). The selection criteria for this table were: (a) only genes investigated in at least two peer-reviewed reports of bipolar disorder, totaling at least 5 independent case-control populations under study, and there had to be at least two more positive than negative reports; (b) the study which was chosen to represent the gene was the one with the best allelic p value regardless of rs numbers.
The report on GRIN1 referred to variant 6608-A/G which may correspond to rs35655437 in intron 11.
Abbreviations: BD (bipolar disorder); CTLs (healthy controls); MDD (major depressive disorder); TDT (transmission disequilibrium test).
