Effects of peroxidized EPA/DHA on the expression of iNOS protein. Cells were treated with IL-1β (1 nM) in the presence or absence of peroxidized EPA and DHA (each, 500 μM) for 6 h. Cell lysates (25 μg of protein) were subjected to SDS-PAGE in a 7.5% gel, and immunoblotted with an anti-iNOS or anti-β-tubulin antibody. The bands corresponding to iNOS were quantitated by densitometry, and the levels of iNOS were normalized by those of β-tubulin (lower, mean ± SD, n = 3 experiments; *P < .05 versus IL-1β alone).
