Figure 2. APP induces CXCL1/KC in the peritoneum and blood of mice resulting in neutrophilia.

Figure 2

A) BALB/c mice were injected IP with 1 mg of APP prepared in PBS, or with PBS alone. After four hours, blood and IP fluid were harvested from each animal and the cells in each sample were subjected to FACS analysis. Data are presented as the mean percentage (+/−SD from 3 mice) of neutrophils out of the total number of viable leukocytes in the peritoneum and are representative of a minimum of three independent experiments. B) BALB/c mice were injected IP with 1 mg of APP prepared in PBS, or with PBS alone. After four hours, blood and IP fluid were harvested from each animal and were subjected to ELISA for CXCL1/KC. Data are the mean (+/− SD) concentration (pg/mL) of CXCL1/KC in each sample. C) Experiments were done as described for (A) and comparisons in the APP response in the peritoneum of BALB/c mice and mice lacking CXCR2 were made. p-value was determined using Student’s unpaired T test.
