a

Current smokers were respondents who reported smoking at least 100 cigarettes during their lifetimes and reported continuing to smoke at the time of the interview, former smokers were those who reported ever smoking at least 100 cigarettes but not smoking at the time of the interview, and never smokers were respondents who reported smoking fewer than 100 cigarettes in their lifetimes and did not smoke at the time of the interview.

b

P values calculated by using t test, comparing current vs never smokers.
