AID-induced mutations occurring on the nontranscribed strand of actively transcribed dsDNA. Representative mutated clones with ≥2 mutations. Clones with mutations near the 5′- and the 3′-end of the inserted cassettes (e.g. second clone from the top) indicate that AID can scan the entire region processively. The occurrence of a large excess of consecutive deaminations suggests that AID may be constrained in its ability to slide within the transcription bubble and that bubble stalling may also be occurring.
