Very short-term memory decays within 15 min. Animals were trained for 5 min and were then tested for another 5 min. The second 5 min either followed immediately the first 5 min (n = 19) or occurred after 15 (n = 5) or 30 min (n = 11). Means and s.e.s are shown. There was a significant difference between the training and testing only in animals in which the test was immediately after the training, indicating that 15 min is enough time to cause a decay of the very short-term memory.
