Activation of translation by RRV ORF57. (A) RNA encoding c.o. gL, gL, prespliced ORF57, and spliced ORF57 were synthesized in vitro and analyzed in a denaturing glyoxal agarose gel. (B) Codon-optimized (c.o.) gL or nonoptimized (n.o) gL RNA was transfected into HEK293T cells together with either prespliced (p.s) or spliced (s.p) ORF57 RNA, and the expression of protein from each RNA was measured at 36 h posttransfection by immunoblotting.
