Z and W are the calls of aberrant copy number and differential gene expression associated with aberrant copy number. X(1) and X(n) denote minimum and maximum copy numbers in the sample, respectively. Note that the mixture model in the copy number data is sample-specific, while that in the gene expression data is gene-specific. Given these parameters, the two data sets are independent.
