(C,G) At postnatal day 12, the expression of Hes5 mRNA is markedly reduced, as is the expression of Hes5-GFP. (D,H) In mature retina, the expression of Hes5 mRNA remains in the Müller glia, but the levels are so low that only faint labeling can be observed with the in situ, while the Hes5-GFP is still clearly visible throughout the Muller cells.
