Each experiment was conducted in duplicate and the two values are shown. The fitness of E. coli was calculated as (Fitness) = Log10 (OD600_7h/0.03), where OD600_7h and OD600 = 0.03 are the OD600 values at 7 h after infection and initial OD600 of the fitness assay experiment, respectively.
