The ground truths of the numbers of species and genera are 371±7 and 170±5, respectively. The number in the parenthesis is one SD. ESPRIT-Tree and ESPRIT with the average linkage function (ESPRIT-AL) yielded the most accurate estimates of microbial diversity among the four methods.
