Figure 1

Live-imaging effects of dopamine and verapamil are studied in zebrafish heart. Fish was treated with vehicle (control), dopamine, or verapamil. The intracellular calcium and muscle oscillation of the heart were monitored and recorded. Fish heart was pseudocolored to show the changes in intracellular calcium, as indicated in color bar where low to high intracellular calcium levels were denoted in black and red colors, respectively. Images were captured at a rate of either 26 frames/s. The changes in cytosolic calcium are shown for about 36 s at 4 s intervals, as indicated at the top left corner.
