Hazard ratios (HRs) for incident hip fracture per tertile of thigh muscle attenuation after adjustment for age, height, BMI, gender, race, clinical site, self-reported health, chronic disease index, physical activity, and total femur BMD by DXA. HR values are normalized to the highest tertile, which is set to a value of 1.0. The trend of decrease in HR with increasing tertile is statistically significant. The lowest tertile of thigh muscle attenuation is significantly associated with incident hip fracture.
