The mental representation of spatial relations. The perceptual or imagistic representation captures the sensory-rich features of the actual scene. The schema abstracts the relative positions of the objects while retaining some analog structure. Conceptual structure is language-like, algebraic, and propositional. A verbal representation encodes the label referring to a discrete, categorical spatial relation (Adapted from Chatterjee, 2001).
