1

The promoters of genes that were downregulated within the first 3 h of c-Myc induction were grouped and scanned using Clover for enriched PWMs, as described in the Materials and Methods.

2

Gene symbol and designation of transcription factor.

3

All PWMs were obtained from the JASPAR Core database33 except MY0001, which was derived from the literature.40,69

4

For each PWM, the p-value from the Clover analysis is reported.

5

Regulation of the transcription factor during the time course. ‘−’, not regulated. Factors in the last four rows were first downregulated at the indicated time point.

6

Factors whose physical (protein-protein) interaction with c-Myc has been reported in the literature are marked ‘+’. To our knowledge the interaction of the remaining proteins has not been investigated.

7

Also known as Miz1 or Myc-interacting Zn finger protein 1.

8

Spleen focus forming virus; Sfpi1 was expressed at a very low level.
