Δyca1 yeasts transfected with the control vector, LmjMCA-cd or PfMCA1-cd-Sc were grown with galactose for 26 hours. 100 µg of total protein extract was tested with the fluorogenic substrates z-VRPR-AMC for 45 min in combination with or without CaCl2 (10 mM). Trypsin was used as a positive control of the arginine proteolytic activity (data not shown). Data are represented as the mean ± S.D (n = 3) of the activity relative to the activity present in yeast cells transfected with the vector control. Asterisks (*) indicate a significant increase compared to control in the same condition as determined by a Student's t test (p<0.05).
