P. falciparum CQ sensitive (3D7) or resistant (7G8) clones were cultured under a graded concentration of CQ in combination with 50 µM or 100 µM z-VAD-fmk. IC50, IC90 and IC95 were determined using the SYBR Green I fluorescence method. Use of pure DMSO at a similar percentage to that created by the addition of z-VAD-fmk acted as a control. Data are represented as the mean S.D. (n = 3). Asterisks indicate a significant increase of IC compared to IC obtained without inhibitor (* = p<0.05).
