Cage enrichment effects (abbreviations provided in Table 1). A. Baseline performance (mean ± SEM) before injections show that the mice living in the enriched cages generally made fewer slips on the balance beam, had a stronger grip, and were able to remain on the accelerating rotarod for a longer duration for almost all strains. B. Enrichment had no effect on change in performance following an ethanol injection, indicated by the within-subject difference between pre- and post-injection scores when all mice received ethanol.
