Table 2.

NUMT pairs that show deletion of the intervening sequences compared to the mtDNA. The inter-NUMT gap is less than the distance between their corresponding sequences in the mtDNA. The shorter gap between these NUMTs is most likely due to deletion of sequences from the mtDNA insert followed by end joining by specific termini motifs (shown). A negative value in the NUMT gap indicates overlapping NUMTs that originated from two distinct regions of mtDNA.
