Further testing of SMIT1/2 myo-inositol transport inhibition was conducted using derivatives of scyllo-inositol, in which one or two hydroxyl groups were removed or substituted (A). For the control experiment, myo-inositol-(2-3H) transport was quantified in the absence of any competitors. An analysis of myo-inositol-(2-3H) transport in the presence of each of the compounds, found monodeoxy- but not dideoxy-scyllo-inositol competed for myo-inositol-(2-3H) transport (B). Single hydroxyl group substitutions were tolerated in the order chlorine>fluorine>nitrate>hydroxy methyl. (nā€Š=ā€Š3 wells per variable).
