Population analysis of strains VISA PC3 and VISA Mu50. Large inocula (ca. 10⁹ CFU) of the tests strains were spread onto BHI agar plates supplemented with increasing concentrations of ceftobiprole alone (A) or vancomycin alone (C) or combined with vancomycin (B) or ceftobiprole (D) incorporated in the agar at a fixed concentration of 0.5 times the MIC for each organism. The plates were incubated at 37°C for 48 h before the colonies were enumerated.
