β-Galactosidase activity of a dctA′-′lacZ(▪) and a dctP′-′lacZ(□) fusion carried by plasmid pME9507 and pME10035, respectively, in wild-type PAO1 in BSM minimal medium amended with succinate, fumarate, malate, oxaloacetate, citrate, glucose, or mannitol or in rich NYB medium. Strains were cultivated to an OD₆₀₀of ∼0.8, and each value is the average of three different cultures ± the standard deviation.
