Interactions of gEtail mutants with UL16-GFP from mammalian cells. (A) Diagrams of GST-gEtail wild-type and mutant constructs. For mutant DEED/As, codons for four acidic amino acids (D, aspartate; E, glutamate) were replaced with codons for alanine. (B) Approximately equal amounts of glutathione bead-bound GST constructs, as indicated by arrowheads on a Ponceau S-stained gel, were mixed with lysates from UL16-GFP-transfected mammalian cells. (C) Proteins bound to the GST constructs were loaded onto SDS-PAGE gels and analyzed by immunoblotting for GFP.
