Table 1.

Comparison of the ability of CD30 to bind the six known TRAF proteins with its degradative properties

Binding to CD30
Degradation by CD30
TRAF1 +++
TRAF2 +++ +++
TRAF3 +++ +
TRAF4
TRAF5 +++ +
TRAF6

The Cd30 binding column has been amalgamated from current published data (Ansieau et al. 1996; Gedrich et al. 1996; Lee et al. 1996) and unpublished data. The degradation by CD30 column summarizes the data obtained by coexpression of CD28–CD30 chimeras with expression vectors encoding wild-type TRAF1, TRAF2, or TRAF3, with Myc epitope-tagged TRAF4 and TRAF5, or with FLAG epitope-tagged TRAF6, followed by immunoblot analysis, as indicated. (+++) The respective TRAF protein was reduced >80% by coexpression with the CD30 chimera, as determined by immunoblot analysis, (+) a reduction of 50% or less; (−) no change.
