Original (left) and modified version (right) of Rembrandt’s “Philosopher in meditation,” with the fixations of a subject superimposed. Although the modified version is just a cropping of the original, it appears to be more illuminated and the subject explored the whole painting, whereas in the original version he was more focused on the philosopher. The bottom plots show the relative average number of fixations in two regions of interest (ROI1 in blue and ROI2 in red).
