Design of peptides from CD2 protein. F and C strands of CD2 protein from the crystal structures are shown with the sequences of amino acids that are important in binding to CD58 (rectangular box). The amino acids from the two strands of CD2 protein were used to design conformationally constrained peptides. One end of the strands was cyclized by introducing (D)-Pro-Pro in the peptide sequence. The other ends of the strands were joined by backbone cyclization.
