DNA elimination in developing macronuclei occurs independently from 4C to 8C DNA endoreplication. Confocal sections of cells that had conjugated in media containing BrdU either in the absence (A) or presence (B) of 5 μg/ml of aphidicolin, fixed at indicated time points, and stained with DAPI and antibodies against Pdd2p and BrdU.
