Effect of the ΔIII mutation on activation of Ire1 by external stress stimuli. An ire1Δ strain KMY1516 transformed with the wild-type IRE1 plasmid (pRS313-IRE1; WT) or its ΔIII mutant version was stressed by adding DTT (A and D) or tunicamycin (B) or by shifting to inositol depletion medium (C and D) at time 0.
