IL-6 induces claudin-2 expression and increases TJ permeability from basal sides. IL-6 (10 ng/ml) was applied to the apical and/or basal aspects of Caco-2 cell monolayers. After 48 h, TER across the monolayers was measured (A) and the whole cell extracts were immunoblotted for claudin-2 (B).
