IFN-γ responses to MSP1₄₂ (3D7 strain) were determined ex vivo by intracellular staining and flow cytometric analysis of cell surface marker expression. The frequency of IFN-γ positive responses per 100 CD4⁺ T cells (A) and CD8⁺ T cells (B) after ex vivo rMSP1₄₂ stimulation were compared between children (≤5 years) and adults (≥18 years). There were no significant differences in the median number of IFN-γ responses generated by either CD4⁺ or CD8⁺ T cells by age group.
