TOP selects native-like angles. Starting from a low-resolution crystal structure of HIV reverse transcriptase (3HVT), the first, backbone-only refinement stage of TOP selects angles that on average are closer to those observed in a medium-resolution crystal structure, as illustrated with a histogram of the dihedral angle differences. The corresponding RamaMaps are shown in Fig. S1.
