(A) Sagittal brain sections including the dorsal hilus from P0 Rac1^N/Rac3^KO and Rac3^KO control mice were treated for fluorescent TUNEL staining (red), and DAPI (blue). TUNEL-positive cells were counted in zone 1 (Z1) including the VZ/SVZ along the lateral ventricular wall and the DMS, and zone 2 (Z2) including the hilar region. Scale bar: 200 µm. (B) Quantification of cell death in mice from different postnatal stages: bars are normalized means ± SEM of the number of TUNEL-positive cells per section (n = 5 different stages considered: P0, P4–P7). Analysis was performed on 30 sections from a total of 8 mice per genotype.
