DrRecA formed more gaps and much shorter nucleoprotein filaments than EcRecA as visualized by electron microscopy. Reactions were carried out as described under Materials and Methods. (B) Quantification of 27 circular dsDNA molecules bound by DrRecA shows that DrRecA forms a total of 368 short filaments within that population, most of which are very short.
