ApoEdpL-W antifungal activity is insensitive to treatments that impair histatin-5 antifungal activity. C. albicans strain SC5314 was incubated with 10 μM ApoEdpL-W or 5 μM Histatin-5 (Hst-5) in the presence of 100 mM NaCL, 10 mM NaN₃, or 5 mg/ml laminarin for 1 h, and cells were plated on YPD, except for cells treated with laminarin, where ApoEdpL-W was preincubated with laminarin for 1 h and the mixture was subsequently added to cells and incubated for 1 h. The ratios obtained for treated versus untreated cells are shown. Data are averages obtained from two independent experiments, with bars indicating the range of values. These data are representative of the protective effect observed in other experiments performed individually.
