Change in the WBC and platelet counts over a period of 28 days after injection of escalating radioactivities of 186Re-Doxil (A and C) and 186Re-PEG-liposomes (B and D), respectively. The WBC count decreased on day 2 post-therapy and then gradually recovered to baseline value by day 15 (A and B). Platelet counts reached their nadir on day 9 postinjection for all treated groups. The platelets showed a dose–response relationship for their recovery with higher radioactivities, requiring more days to return to baseline value (C and D). *p<0.05, **p<0.01: control vs. 740 MBq/kg of 186Re-Doxil and control vs. 1480 MBq/kg of 186Re-PEG-liposomes.
