Consensus phylogenetic tree for 36 Fusarium proliferatum isolates, based on the partial sequence of the FUM1 gene. As an outgroup, an F. verticillioides strain was included. The tree was reconstructed using the maximum parsimony approach and tested by bootstrapping (1,000 replicates). Only branches with 50% and above support from bootstrapping were shown. The letters L, M, and H stand for low, medium, and high content of fumonisins, respectively, and the vertical bar marks the clade of fastest-growing isolates (see the Results section). Abbreviations used for pathogen/host code: Fp F. proliferatum, Fv F. verticillioides, Ac Ananas comosus, Ao Asparagus officinalis, As Allium sativum, Ca Cambria sp., Os Oryza sativa, Pd Phoenix dactylifera, So Saccharum officinarum, Ta Triticum aestivum, Zm Zea mays
