FIGURE 5. — Kinetic analysis of l-aspartate and l-alanine self-exchange. The kinetic parameters of l-[³H]aspartate (A) and l-[³H]alanine (B) transport were determined by sampling after a 15-s reaction to estimate initial velocities. Substrate concentrations were corrected for the residual external aspartate carried into the assay from the proteoliposome stock. A linear transform was used to calculate the Michaelis constant (K_m) and maximum velocity (V_max) of the l-[³H]aspartate (C) and l-[³H]alanine (D) transport reactions. Data are from three independent experiments and presented as the average with S.D.
