Egr1^−/− mice have reduced Sqle gene expression. RT-qPCR was used to measure the response of wild-type and Egr1^−/− mice to a protocol of fasting and refeeding as described under “Materials and Methods.” Average results are shown relative to gene expression in fed wild-type mice. In wild-type mice, the expression of Egr1, Egr2, Hmgcr, and Sqle was induced in fed mice when compared with fasted mice.
