Values are means ± SE (n = 8). Myosin heavy chain (MHC) isoforms were separated by SDS-PAGE, gels were stained with Coomassie Blue, and bands quantified by densitometry were expressed as relative values (%) for each of the 12 skeletal muscles or muscle regions: adductor longus (AL), extensor digitorum longus (EDL), epitrochlearis (EPI), mixed gastrocnemius (GASM), red gastrocnemius (GASR), white gastrocnemius (GASW), plantaris (PLAN), soleus (SOL), red tibialis anterior (TAR), white tibialis anterior (TAW), tensor fasciae latae (TFL), and white vastus lateralis (VLW).
