Inclusion and exclusion criteria for participation in the fast track program

Inclusion criteria	Exclusion criteria
Age 18–70 years old	Inflammatory Arthritis
Unilateral, primary THR	DDH with high hip center, or concomitant procedure such as removal of hardware at time of THR
ASA class II or less	History of myocardial infarction, pulmonary embolus, deep venous thrombosis, diabetes mellitus
BMI < 32
Preoperative hemoglobin >13 g/dl
Excellent social support	Unable to arrange to have someone stay with patient after discharge
Preoperative ambulation without cane, or >1,500 ft with cane.
Motivated to comply with fast track protocol
