(A and B) Examples showing simultaneous recordings of both extracellular gamma oscillations and PV+ interneuron action potentials in hippocampal area CA1, with Ctr and KO mice, respectively. (C and D) The data obtained from 10 continuous gamma cycles, and correlated spikes in Ctr and KO mice were pooled together to compare the phase angle of the APs. (E) The data were analyzed by averaging AP incidence per gamma cycle across 100 gamma cycles. The average AP incidence per gamma cycle in KO mice was significantly reduced compared with control mice. *P < 0.05.
