Glycogen content of N-starved cells in the presence of sodium or potassium chloride in fermentation buffer (Tricine; pH 8.3). Cells were grown in full media and then subjected to nitrogen starvation under the same growth conditions. The cell density was 2.3 g DW/liter of culture at harvesting, and cells were resuspended in Tricine buffer with the addition of 100 mM sodium or potassium chloride at this cell density.
